Some nice work there on the engine and gearbox mounts, quite a complex job by the look of it, guess the K series engine has to be set at a particular angle both across the car and length wise so the oil system works correctly? I was suprised that you are going for a different look on the bodywork, those Audi door handles are really something different but will look great. Keep it going, as always mate an interesting read Cheers Bomber

Cheers Bomber Mick your right about the angle of the engine. The top of it must be at the same angle as it would be if it was in the original car, this isn't so much for the oil feed system but for the return. The return holes from the head back to the sump are at what was the front of the engine (if that makes sense ) Although the sump is perfectly horizontal despite the angle of the head.... The Audi door handles are different but something I've not seen on a Rod before.... ;D Cheers Marcus

Just a short update tonight. Angle grinder at the ready I chopped out a hole in the door skin large enough for the piece we needed to weld into place. We then got the gas axe out and just gently warmed up the four edges of the hole so that it could be curved inwards, so that when the panel is welded in there isn't a high spot where the weld is.... Once the four corners had been tacked into place it was out with the tape measure to make sure the handle is going to sit perfectly level and then I slowly tacked the plate into place making sure not to concentrate in one place for too long to help reduce distortion... I then gave it a quick splash of black paint just to get a better picture of what its gonna look like... Tomorrow I'll buff the weld off and then make up any pin holes, also weld a piece in on the back to fill the gap and hole left by the outer door handle.... Cheers Marcus

Braking It.... So am slowly working my way towards making the bulk head but there is obviously a few bits that need to be in place first. Engine (done) Gearbox (done) Pedals (on with) Steeing column So tonights work was to start fabricating the brackets to mount the new wilwood pedal nox too... First job was a short peice of 3mm angle and drill a couple of mounting holes in it....I also welded a couple of bolts to th under side to act as mounting studs... Next job was to weld a couple of 3mm pieces of angled plate to the first peice. To get the pedals at the right height the flat plate doesn't sit flat on the upper part of the fire wall, so it needed spacing and it also runs out as it gets closer to the centre of the car so a spacer plate was used at one end to allow for this... After I trial fitted it, I seam welded all of the joints. Now I know I could of stitched these, and seam welding it is a little over kill but brakes are so more important than making it go... Cheers Marus
