FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT THEY WERN'T HIGH TENSILE BUT I HAVE BOUGHT SOME NEW ONES AND THEY HAVE THE SAME MARKINGS ON THE HEAD, SO IF THEY WERE HIGH TENSILE, I THINK THAT WITH ALL THE TRAUMA OF ME THRASHING IT, I I'VE HAD A COUPLE OF HYDROLICS WHEN STARTING AND THE BIG BANG, WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTOR, IT HAS JUST TAKEN IT;S TOLL.

Hi, I've been following your tribulations on her, sorry to see your latest woes with the bolts. I think the cause of the problem may be the recessed pockets on the crank flange. If you look at where the bolts have broken, they all sheared flush with the threaded portion. this might indicate that there is some flex above this point, i.e. In the small pockets between flange and flexi plate. I had a similar problem on a forklift truck I was fixing many years ago where someone had used a pattern flexi plate. In the end we machined some spacers for the pockets and this took the stress out of the bolts. I wouldn't take this as gospel, maybe get a second opinion, but it is a very similar issue. The telltale for us was minor turn marks on the mating face where the voids had allowed the bolts to flex prior to shearing. Hope this might be of use. All the best, and by the way your patience is saintly, I'd have had it dragged into the yard and smashed up with a hammer by now! Simon

Mick, i'll give it a good go, if it can't stand the abuse it shouldn't be allowed out. ;D
Simon, at the end of trhe day it's just a bit of tin on 4 bits of rubber, if you have a dailey you've still got something to drive about, and the rod can be repaired, thats how i look at it
