well as some of you know i bought this a few months ago going well, thrashing it about, smoking the tyres and generally having fun, then it was bound to happen and it did. it went bang a couple of weeks ago with this lump of steel comming through the bell housing 2" diameter and 1 3/4" deep. i thought oh bugger, or words to that effect. got hold of the previous owner about what box ws in it and last week i got another gearbox chevy th350 all ready to go. so with the teardrop done and chucked outside the pops in the garage. took a few pics of whats happened also did the starter all this due to bad workmanship starting the strip down again before i started i aske the previous owner the best way to get the box out, he said pull it forward and lift it out with the box still on. yeah right this is the gearbox x member and mounts for the tail shaft and it wouldn't come out untill i got a big stick to it

shite, pressed the wrong button after taking off the engine mounts, moving the servo and cutting out this bit of chassis which sprug out when i cut it the engine and box eventually came out. on inspection why the chassis sprung out the reason was that it's been mastic welded this end it's pigging rough in here well this is the damage to the gearbox and back of the engine looking round the block it's been welded tho this does look like it's been done well compared the new gearbox to the the one i just took out. bollox not the same mine bop 350 replacement chevy th350 oh well thats rodding or is that being shafted.

Guess there's going to be some 'Jimmy Fabrication' before the motor goes back, when you look at the damage and other thinks wrong with chassis it does make you wonder what could have happened. Hope it all goes well mate Im sure it will return much better.

oh well thats rodding or is that being shafted. Jimmy is it Rodding or is it that most people that build them are only playing at it and don't really know the in's and out's of engineering.?

Jimmy, that is pretty scary Bryan has advised me to get a 'Trans Shield' for that reason, it could take your leg off afterall. Its quite common for this type of thing to happen with a tuned motor and probably a standard gearbox, as we all know. I had a 351 Cleaveland in a Torino with a C4 box, put a Holley on it a cam and headers and it blew the box straight away, they are just not built for it in standard form. Cheers Ke
