Hi My project Bombers Pop bought from PK who is now working to finish her for me. Can't wait for Drayton Thanks to Marcus who has kindly done a step by step instruction for this old git to upload pics here we go! Have these pics PK is doing a great job, up there on Sunday doing a few bits with him. Now on it's feet Has it worked yes!!!! Bomber Some more updates, PK sent these was, going up there this morning but the white stuff stopped that. Lots done this week final fit, very thing fitting well up to PK's usual high standard hopefully going to paint in the next few days (no pressure PK!!!!) Any one got any inner wings? Thanks for the kind comments guys Bomber Visited PK yesterday, looks like he's had a relaxing week ;D The pop is almost ready for paint!!!!! fantastic stuff PK, Linda must be a hell of a task master glad she's not my boss! I must admit after a number of visits into the house for a brew I did feel a bit guilty (not) that the van is having to live outside in the cold and rain, as promised I will come and give it a polish though. On to the Pop spent a lot of time doing some internal design work switch gear, audio etc (thanks for the input Jon and spending my money) PK's face was a picture, just do this PK oh and just do this PK and the job list got a bit bigger!! but we are hopefully still on track for Drayton. Fired the engine sounded bloody brilliant. Now off to sort some chroming and some billet switch panels from my top machinest Richard Mann. PS, if any one wants some one of machining doing let me know, Richard Mann at Ollerton is fantastic , just ask PK he was very impressed with the one-off hubs he made for me (one week turn around) Will post some pics Bomber Hi Thought I would put some images of the hubs that Marcus showed interest in. As Pk said we wanted to have 5 stud front and rear, the hubs on the front were GT6 with a Ford 4stud PCD and most people we spoke to said we would have to have a adaptor plate but we both had serious doubts about how much material would be between the two types of stud patterns and of course safety must comes first. I found Richard Mann who promptly suggested one off billet hubs (£120), one week later here are the results along with cross drilled and grooved discs(£20) The hubs provide the same width track as the orginal ones he also fitted the bearing races ready to simply put on the car. Making PK job a bit easier (don't want to work him to hard do we!! ;D) Richard also produced a steer column boss for the quick release column in the car. I would recommend Richard any time great engineer!! Richard Mann Ollerton near Newark 01623 861800 Now then Marcus don't give PK any ideas about locking me out of the garage he'll be resting in the armchair!! I'm taking PK out on Sunday to chill at the swap meet it will be like driving Miss Daisy see you at the greasy spoon Peterboro Bomber Went to PK's last night some great progress, bled the brakes though, the car is 99% flatted, transport booked to take her accross to DC's ready for paint this weekend ;D Head rail in and looks great (Sorry pics at bit dark) Body prep Now off to order those last bits and pieces for the build up next week. Great work PK Thanks Bomber

Well here we go, PK organised the transport for Thursday thankfully the rain held off whilst the Pop was being moved, pretty little thing! At DC's booth masked up PK was quite excited at this stage the body looks really straight Now for the paint (1 paint 2 paint 3 paint more, 4 paint 5 paint PK's floored) All that work put into the ribbed roof panel has really paid off! Simple as that, what a great job PK and Chris is the man with the gun (spoke to PK this evening he is well bloody chuffed!!!) can't wait to see it in the flesh. Up at the weekend to sort the final bits and pieces. Looks like my Avatar now!!! Well I thought it looked good last night but now the masking is off and she's out in the sunshine, even though I say it myself its bloody awsome!! On the trailer back to Chockys for the management team to check the work over I said yesterday and I'll say it again that roof panel is fantastic The MD (Boyd) and senior partner (Linda) give the workshop apprentice (PK) the thumbs up, looks like they will keep him on for the next project! The red really works in the sun, that's my veiw any way As I'm sat at home uploading these pics more are arriving on my mobile, wings boot etc painted as well, PK slow down I can't keep up Bomber Been to PK's today and I can tell that I had a tear in my eye when I saw my baby that's the truth! PK kept up the suspense by offering me a filter coffee before allowing me in the garage, what customer service!! Was allowed to get out the spanners and do a bit of work with PK! Its really coming together now. Most of the afternoon spent on the phone ordering those little pieces to finish the job. The photos don't do the paint finish justice but it is AWSOME!!!!!!!!! Hope you approve! By the way the metal bars hanging from the rear wing are not kerb finders, as usual a PK ultimate engineering solution to stop the wings flexing when they are fully fitted. I think the rear view is better than that tractor, Mick I would have remove the wheels to get it in the garage. Marcus like you say a real health and safety issue with those side pipes, I would burn my leg support sockings on them.

Sorry I forgot one little piece, Richard Mann made a billet panel for me, (from proper techicail drawings, Marcus, don't panic oh shit I've measured it wrong and I wrote it on a fag packet!!! sorry mate) You may remember this pic, the interior is now red and below the three pod instrument pod shown here - will be mounted is this switch panel, designed the echo the instrumet pod above (fitted with So-Cal switches with engraved knobs)with polished edges and a satin middle. Don't want to boast but on behalf of Richard, but this guy is an awsome engineer, and can make anything you can think of!!!!!!!!!!! Well here it is the long awaited update, I think I said in an early post that it is difficult to show a lot of physical progress with pics has most of the work are those fiddly jobs that are frustrating and lengthy with not a lot to show for the hard work. So lets play spot the difference! Picture A Picture B Got all the changes? As I siad it is easy to spot changes, stuff like paintwork, bodywork big jobs look like big progress but it is the little ones that take the time Since the first picture the whole wiring system has been updated to take care of the LED indicators, wiper motor and SoCal control switches here all connections are soldered and srink sealed. The glass is in, apart from the rear screen, headlining needs to go in first, all the window surrounds are painted and fitting really nice, amazing amount of work to make them fit! Dynamat to all the internal surfaces sticky stuff!! Doors built and all the various rubber seals etc fitted. CD/Radio in and working still awaiting for the slimline speakers fron the States The interior has been trail fitted some minor changes to be made to the door panels to accomodate the bear claws, and firewall needs trimming The interior is about 95% done PK has booked the wonderful Cheryl to install the headlining (thanks chuck) what a task that has been, roof hoops are like rocking horse s**t getting the liner has taken 3 weeks which has held things back abit. I don't think it will be an easy job cos most of the fixing points in the centre of the roof have gone! We will know Monday. Driver seat needs moving back to accomodate the larger gentleman! So on to the front of the car, I managed to pick some excellent inner wing at the Southern Swap Meet, these have been media blasted and how the are being altered to fit and in usual style PK does a precision job, here welding on a nice steel rib to finish the cut. These will make the front end a nice tight fit with no movement on the other panels a problem with some Pops I have seen. So there we go, might have more next week (PK Bomber is happy you know that!! Anne keeps asking why I wake up with a big smile on my face (no smutty comments please) I tell her its another day closer to having my little red throbber!!!)

Nothing for a couple of weeks and then two updates in a day!! Just like buses wait for ages and two come at the same time. A bit more on the front end build, classy stuffy PK, our engineering solution meetings and all that tea are producing some good outcomes!! ;D PK asked for some cage nut now sorted thanks Hopefully up next week so some more updates. Friday was a long day especially for Cheryl who fitted the headlinning into the Pop, I rang PK to get a progress report about 11am Cheryl had been there since 8!! At 4.30pm I rang again she was still at it, but guys the results are awsome, the pics don't do justice so PK tells me. As I have not had chance to see it myself PK might add a post here I hope, just to explain how it was done (over too you mate) Cheryl hugs and kisses for you on Tuesday you're a star!!!!!!! Thank you More pics Tuesday we're getting close! Bomber Well we are getting vey close, the interior is now 99% finished some small bits of trim to sort on the firewall, which the wonderful Cheryl is going to do, she also knocking up some gaiters for the handbrake and shifter and I think we are there. ;D The stereo is in and sounding great, the slimline speakers finally came from the USA thankfully. The front end is coming on, the inner wings and grill frame are complete and loose fiited but one thing is clear they have made a big differnce along with the addition supports that have been put to the whole structure. PK is popping down to DC's to do the wings and bonnet over the next couple days (thanks again David 'master goalkepper') I was up at PK's on Tuesady and its quite odd we spent sometime just looking at the Pop scratching our heads thinking have we missed anything!!! We sealed the rear window, stickerflex gets every where!!!! I'm planning to go up Sat to help with the final assembly and fitting of those final bits and pieces. MOT next week? Drayton? PK and I are hoping!!!

Well guys I'm sorry to have to announce that we will be in the Anglia on Sunday, been up to PK's tonight and there is just too much to do, in our hearts we knew a couple of weeks ago that we would struggle but I can tell you we bloody well tried!!!! PK has been working his nuts off. Anyway the seating for the big boy is now sorted and god is it comfortable a real nice driving postion!! One problem we came acrooss is that we will have to fit some bigger poundage coil overs on the rear, now the suspension has settled down and when loaded the tyres are right up to the wing profile and will rub, don't want to risk destroying the bodywork do we!! We fitted the wings and bonnet, now can anyone tell me why panels fit prefectly prior to painting and when painted they don't, although PK is confident that there not far off heres some pics, and I have to say it myself 'god see looks fantastic' So close, but hey it won't be long Mot next weekend Sorry about the last pic, was a bit excited got some camera shake!

Well after all the excitment and emotion of yesterday I got to do an update. Even though PK was concerned and upset about the Consul he had still being putting hours of work in to finish the Pop, well its of for the MOT at Cleethorpes and might even be driven back on Saturday morning!!! Once we rescued PK car Marcus kindly agreed to trailer it across, another great gesture thanks mate. Almost here Had PK round today to sort out a small leak on the POP(not quite as bad as BP's spillage) But enough for the old boy to put in a warranty claim after he has taken delivery. Took a couple of pics which Paul didnt realise seeing as he had just told me he dont do polish...LOL I've thought of two captions but you guys make ya minds up. Cheers Marcus Where is that Bloody Geniue Best rub Mick's had in years....

Thanks guys, the post last night was a quickie, I was so pleased and excited to have the Pop back at home it was all could manage cos I just wanted to go and sit in her!! ;D ;D ;D There was one person who was probably more pleased to see her disappear up Wrenthorpe Road and that was PK, as DC says he can have his life back now and stop seeing RED and of course get on with Chocky's. I have probably said my thanks before, but I am so grateful to all who have helped me - Marcus, Johno and MarK David and of course Paul who has worked wonders to build the Pop for me thanks mate. Final thanks go all the other club members who have given their support and rodders across the country for their support. If I have left any one out please excuse me Here are a few pic's taken today, I still have a bit cleaning and polishing to do for the weekend but here goes This will probably be the last post on the Mick Barton Pop Project Page for a while after Sheffield I have to finish the interior, that will be a winter job, Im looking forward to getting to know every nut and bolt of the Pop. Cheers Bomber

OK thought I would do a bit of an update, one year on! Well the car was used right the way through the winter weather permitting, and performed faultlessly a part from needing a new gell battary £180 she was great fun and put a big smile on my face. But some minor changes and alterations were made during the dark months. Work mainly on the interior was undertaken. After half a season there were a few things I wanted to change, the warning lamps were the first, particuarly the indicators which were taped to the steering column, new billet one were sourced but what a pig to fit, drilling holes in a shinny dash was scary and mistakes were made even with a new drill bit the paint chipped like hell! A quick trip to Richard Mann soon sovled this, he made some nice billet mounting rings (to hide the damage) ;D Wiring was then altered why is it so hard did all the changes took my time swicthed on and every warning lamp came on (it was christmas after all) bad earth solved that! Next job refitting all the window trim after the rear side window fell out at Whitby Two weeks of filing drilling and sourcing the proper screw fixings they work great now. Rev counter was the next thing to get changed although Marcus did the wiring when the car went for the MOT. Its now a 2" dail mounted in the dash pod looks better than the one clamped to the column. ;D Did the first cruise at Leeds and then off to Cleethorpes for the MOT which it failed which to be fair I expected. The headlamps had never been right after the incident, new stainless lamps with better adjustment were purchased and fitted, and guess what I can see where I'm going now . Handbrake and footbrake needed the once over and adjustment but this was put down to the settling in process! I'm looking to put a bigger servo in next year. Marcus found one or two other bits which were things like a loose shocker and some minor wiring faults, all corrected. She then passed the MOT, here a big thanks to Marcus and Chris for thier work, and again Marcus (and Claire) for trailering the car back to Worksop. I'm now refitting the illfitting door cards with the attempt of making her a bit more presentable for events, but next year my plan is for a total pro re-trim in Tan Leather. Will post a few update pics at the weekend Cheers Bomber
