been bizy but manage to do a bit on the trailor this week .Put a locking handle on the bonnet lid got a handle off an old mini boot lid pulled it apart to exstend the square drive Made the 20x20 square over long so to cut to length later had to drill the bonnet hole that had the old aircraft emblem in it was,t there when bought used the rubber gasket as a template for the hole after a few attempts i came up with this here is a closer look offed up the bonnet and found that the bar that the leaver locks against was to low . tryed to adjust it and in the process of undoing the nuts the twisted the nuts of the threads so had to remake the u shaped bar .got my tap and dye set and tapped new threads after that i set about the hinges that i brought off ebay for a 100e which fit by using the old bolting places but in the reverse

Had to make some sort of mounting four the hinges. so cut some sheet up to weld to the rain gutter and came up with this tacked it all up and them fully gas welded in. to make sure that i got the hinges in the right place i turned the trailor up side down to make it a lot easyer . before this i tack welded the rear of the bonnet to the bulkhead Bolted the hinges on to the bonnet so that i could get a clear picture made too extention pieces to bolt the other end of the hinge to the bulkhead thats all for now

got in the garage again today and got a bit more done .set about braising the panel that holds the hinge just din,t want to stick a plate at the back or a couple of braces as i know that is there so set about making them a bit pleasing to the eye even though you cant see them . I saw a thread on a nother site and a chap had made some panels that had holes in the metal and the holes had the sides pushed out .I thought that looked good and stuck in my mind .so had a go myself this is what i came up with the small pipe is a piece of scaffold and the other is 2.5 exhaust the small tube i put a bevel on one end .the plates i cut holes out with a hole saw .then put one tube at the back and the small tube at the front in my vice and closed the vice up i was amazed at how good it turned out after that offered plate up cut excess of and welded them in and made a brace for the bulkhead as well got on well today more as and when ;D ;D

I set about the trailor lights. rear light came from a vw beetle 2000 I bought them off ebay for £15 it must have been about 6 months ago and have just put one in the front wing of the trailor. these lights are oval so just couldn,t stick them in a tube.so had to set about making metal inserts for them. Cut a 2 inch strip of sheet about18 inches long ,joined the ends together using the light lends as a template [img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv323/pop351red/DSC00128.jpg[/IM i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv323/pop351red/DSC00129.jpg"] I put the wing in my vice so as to get a good working hight and offered the ring up to the wing and marked out the hole to be cut out and cut hole out with a grinder with a slitting disc in it I then put the ring in the hole and tacked in position to see if OK i put the lens in it with a bit off fettling it fitted . THEN welded it up fully and this is what i ended up with will try and do the other side tomorrow Got to make a cap to go over the back to seal the lens in. To act as a backing plate for the weather and securing plate thought about using a cadburys roses tin i had for Christmas ;D

have got a little bit more done on the trailor in the last few weeks started on the chassis made the frame out of T section 6mm. cut the pieces to size tacked the to gather to stop distortion. and fixed the a frame i had previously made. Then set a datum line up to get the a frame in the right position, i dont want this to crab as you can see in the pic i made a few cuts in the steel to get the curve as the rear of the trailor is curved . i din,t want it as a straight panel at the back going to put Marine ply inside the trailor and cover with vinyl so pre drilled all the fixing holes put some 3mm x12mm channel down the center of the frame to take the cable for the lights continued this though the frame into the a frame and welded a piece of tube to catch the cable the other side just to clean things up ran out of steel so went on to the body and took the paint off thats all for now people .more to follow

this is getting to be a bit of a pun GOT A BIT MORE DONE I put the trailor body on the frame too get a good fit and to sort out where the axle was going to fit cut two slots in the rear of the back panel to allow the a frame to fit snug bolted a wing to the body just to see were abouts i could fit the axle that i got from the neighbor and offed it up i blocked the frame off the ground with some 4" blocks to give me some clearance to move the axle about use an old wheel to center the axle in the wing,s while the wing was on decided to take the paint off and found another hole the wing that i though was good was bad i thought i had repaired

And theres more . got the shackle's made for the trailor this week Got some angel and drilled it with five 3/8 holes sorry 10mm old school you know .six of so that i could put bigger or smaller wheels on , in increment of an i" apart made the shackles the same length as the originals but thicker metal set it all up in position to weld up on both sides and tacked up stood on the Axel to see that there was enough movement was OK so fully welded up striped it all apart and transfered the bolt holes on the rear to the frame and drilled the holes out e holes out striped everything back down for painting .
