Gonna be a shitload of metal fatigue going on there, i'd be tempted to use a minimum of 8mm and loooooaaaaaads of amps to weld em in.

You reckon I need a re-think then Charlie?! Ideally I'd weld some more tubes in and have a flat plate running across, but that means a hell of a lot of work to all but strip the body off so I could get in to weld it, without shagging the fibreglass locally....
Bomber - I wish mate; been away a lot and getting the odds and ends has taken longer than planned! We should be able to sort something out in a couple of weeks; tied up this week and in India next...

Can you not use the original side engine mounts? Shorter span means more strength

I could make more straight side plates, but I'd need to weld in some more vertical tubes to hang them off - in an ideal world, this would be my preferred option..... Life ain't ideal

Charlie - just to add, the final mounts will be full height ie. almost a triangular piece joining the engine piece to the chassis piece, so a hell of a lot stonger than my mock-up - is that clear as mud?!
