Well it was Spring bank holiday weekend in good old England so the rain was to be expected but when would we let a little thing like a deluge of water spoil our fun
I have to say this was our first visit to this event but we had heard only good about it, and at only £17 to camp for exhibitors for the whole weekend we thought it a bargain so packed the car & headed out.
The event wasn't signposted until you actually arrived so luckily Colin from Wakefield cruise who we were following knew the way. On entering the site we were greeted by half a dozen newly laid, very nasty speed bumps Yep, our gearbox sump scraped more than once so eventually the organisers realised they were going to have big problems & sorted out another way onto the showfield but this still left two nasty bumps to get your car back to the campsite. I did suggest going out with a lumphammer in the middle of the night but I don't think anyone trusts me with weapons
There were only two camping areas, the rose garden which was full when we arrived a little after noon on Friday & the second one was almost full so the organisers managed to secure another field in the park for the overspill. I think they themselves were surprised by the turnout. The 'facilities' weren't really enough for the amount of people that arrived, three toilets on the main showground, one in the rose garden & a split trailer with four ladies loos at one end & whatever the boys had at the other. Only cold water in these or antibac spray in the other portaloos & they all ran out of paper on the first night ... glad I go prepared There wasn't a single bin in any of the camping areas that we could see & only a few between the stalls on the showground though people did seem to hold on to their rubbish & the council had supplied a couple of litter pickers.
On the first day we got there I was quite surprised that although the food stalls had arrived, none were serving. You couldn't even get a cuppa!! Beer/food run to Morrisons then ....
There were quite a lot of stalls, the usual car show ones plus a few extras, a couple of girls doing retro hairstyling for £7.50, a funfair for the kiddies and of course the very brilliant Stevie Ray Moor doing a pinstriping demo on a certain ninety eight ;D
Apart from the weather the only real downside was that the council had ordered them to stop the music at 10pm & have everyone out of the beer tent by 10.30pm and the food stalls by this time had all closed ... all except the lovely lady on the waffle stall who admitted she didn't want to tread on anyones toes but if the others had all gone home ..... she had lovely hotdogs & onions at only a quid apiece That hogroast guy must be kicking himself now
Some cracking cars turned up, Saturday was good, Sunday they were starting to worry they'd run out of space as the showfield filled to more or less maximum capacity as the sun came out. Unfortunately a lot of these had only come for the day so Monday dawned with a more or less empty field as the heavens opened yet again, just a few new cars turning up.
Overall though it's been a cracking weekend, Karen & the other organisers put on a brilliant show that the council tried to thwart at every opportunity it seems, they just need to think bigger next year to cope with the influx of punters & work with the council on the subject of bedtime .....
Right, suppose I've wittered on enough, best show you the cars then
Just spent an hour copying over all the image codes & it's showing as moved or deleted on the preview so here's the link to my photobucket album so you can browse at your leisure ......

Guess if you want to see more you'll have to come with us next year guys & gals ;D
