So the plan is to back fill it with hard core as the concrete goes in to help balance the shuttering... Been out there tonight in the dark and the rain, trying to space the 1500 feet properly and make it look professional enough for the inspector, that she doesn't investigate my work toooo much lol... Anything she's not happy with, I'll tell her to come back and check again on Friday...

Building control Officer been and although I havn't quite got all the steel work finished, she was pleased with my work and could see I hadn't scrimped on the steel work and that I had every intention of finishing it to the same high quality. So its a big tick in the box and concrete being poured on Saturday....

Well yesterday was the big day, Concrete party day. So it was up at dawn and get prepared for a very long day. About twenty past seven the concrete pump turned up.... So the first 6 cube of concrete turned up about 7.45 and the pour began, no turning back now.... We filled the footings first and then went on to the centre of the garage base. So after the concrete wagons had gone, I'd been left with 57cubes of concrete witch is about 137 tonnes in total. Next job I didn't get any pictures of because I had problems with the machine I'd hired to get the base level, if am honest I started to panic.(I don't usually panic) After throwing several ideas about for an hour or so, I got into the concrete and with the help of the other lads we hand tampered the base, this is not ideal but we needed to start acting fast because the stuff was starting to skin over. We managed to get it pretty level all things considered but with huge amount of peaks and troughs....Then the waiting game began. I planned on polishing the concrete with a power float, but didn't actually know how hard the concrete had to be before we could start. I rang Simon and he volunteered himself to come over and give us a hand Ten thirty at night, four passes later, one very annoyed neighbour banging on the front door from the street behind us about the noise (not my immediate neighbours who'd been pre warned) and it was starting to take shape.... We stopped for food and bided Simon fair well and carried on with the polishing, we had to do one run about every hour, so second run after Simon had left about one thirty/two am. and half way across the machine started to play up and eventually stopped and would not restart... After several attempts we gave up, and went to bed. This mornings inspection wasn't too bad. Its not as good as it was going to be, but its about 90% of how it was going to be..... Thank goodness no more bloody ground work, I've spent along with many friends digging this big hole just to fill it back in again..Lol A big thanks to all those that helped this weekend and all the other weekends running up to yesterday, I would never have managed it without you...... Cheers Marcus
