Thanks for the nice comments, everyone. It's been owned by a Buick enthusiast for a very long time. He did it as a nice reliable driver not a show queen on a solid west coast car. It's a very well specced model, the top of the Buick range at the time. Painted 15 years ago, nice driver not show quality. One small split in paint on passenger sill. Am advised it would benefit from wet sand / buff on lower half, typical US repaint, like the cadillac I suppose. Re trimmed several years ago. Bumpers chromed a few years back. Full dynaflow tranny rebuild 2 years ago, engine rebuild last year with a thousand miles on it. Newer tyres, four core radiator, rebuilt and sorted milled flat inlet / exhaust manifold (essential on a straight eight because they are about three feet long) the engine has retro- developed hydraulic tappets and shell bearings, both mods developed over time by specialists. Car has $13,500 in recent bills not including labour, not restored without regard to cost, but the money has been spent on all the right stuff. Seller said it is so quiet he thought it had stalled and nearly crashed it when he stuck his foot on the gas! I'm sure I'll find plenty to keep me busy when it rolls in, but it was too good value to pass up, bought from a guy who seems to describe things with an openness not usually forthcoming from the Septics.

Got a question Si, looking at the engine pic, it looks as if the hood is hinged on the drivers side... Looking at the second pic of the second lot you put up, its hinged on the passenger side. Whats happening there

Well spotted Flash. It hinges on EITHER side! You can open it on the left or the right, or undo both and the bonnet comes off! This is a trick I had to figure out for myself when we tried ( unsuccessfully) to buy a fantastic 1949 Buick Sedanette at Bonhams in Harrogate a few years ago, and nobody present could open the hood. It has an external catch on either side; I think it's a piece of the chrome trim on top of the wing if I remember correctly, but I know it took me and my dad over an hour to figure it out! It also has a clever trick with the starter, it's something to do with pressing the gas pedal with the key in a certain position.

Picked the old girl up yesterday. It's pretty nice really, and BIG! Couple of pics enclosed of the car loaded at felixstowe The pics don't do the size justice ( except the rear view) The car drives nice, engine is almost silent, gearbox is great, interior is lovely. Body pretty good for an older restoration, I am really looking forward to using it.

Cheers Mark! How's the classic? I'll probably play with this for a bit then move it on. I really want the sedanette fastback version.

Here's a few more pics. I've been driving it round the village, it's just lovely to drive. Can't wait to get a V5 so we can start playing out in it!
