Gearjammers Clumber park gathering this year has some extra fun, with a slot car challenge running.
There are two categories; Drag Racing, and Hillclimb Challenge.
The hillclimb challenge is a timed single lane section with loops at either end. It uses a standard control car, provided by me, timed against the clock, with many bends and technical sections. A true test of your driving ability in 1/32 scale! Fastest time of the day wins a prize.
The Drag Racing Challenge is an opportunity for you to exercise you car selection and customising skills to bring along the fastest car and win in a straight line against the rest of the field. Track is standard Ninco slot track, straight only, with standard controllers and 13.6v power to each lane. The track and power system is un modified and must not be altered by competitors to suit any cars. Anything goes with the cars but bear in mind the limits of the surface and controllers etc. If it won't run on standard track with a standard controller, or if it blows the tranny or controller, you're out. Cornering is not an issue, this is proper drag racing so build a straight line missile! Rules for car are; 1/32 scale model with electric motor power driven from the track, no double sided tape or sticky grip tyre enhancement, no rocket motors ( I tried that once, the car just takes off) keep it simple. My recommendation would be to start with a commercially available car or chassis but it's up to you. I found that too much power can be a slight disadvantage as it's hard to get grip down and you have to fe ed the power in gradually. My idea is to run head to head eliminators, OR best of five timed runs.
Bring a car or be a 1/32 scale square!
Bring It On, Gearjammers!

Correct answer; 1/32 of 440 yards =13.75 yards or 12.75 metres
Actual Answer; I have approx. 30 usable straight track lengths at 40cm .40 x 30=12metres
which is pretty close as far as I can see.
Hope that is ok with everyone.
It makes acceleration and grip just as important as top speed!
