Simon said that as well, Charlie. Is there something we should know? You wouldn't want to get it mixed up with KY

No, cause if your trefolex tin is like mine, it's full of swarf, which would chafe the old chap something awful

The crossmember and jig were clamped in a chop saw and cut through as far as the jig............... ..............and then unbolted from the jig, and the underneath cut done by hand so we were left with two halves of crossmember and a 92mm lump cut exactly out of the centre, with the two halves ready to bolt back on the jig nice and square, ready to weld back together.

By the miracles of electrickery, gas and some welder from Grimsby, the two halves were glued back together............ ....... and here we have a before and after shot, with the lump cut out of the middle in the foreground Standard widthNarrowed

Have finally managed to read through what is a great thread I'm sure it will make a good reference point, some great work being done as ever, have you found a suitable steering rack yet, it will very interesting to see how the Fairlane drives when completed. It looks like you have started a full restro Johno, clearly you are replacing the motor and I guess the whole engine bay is going to get a make over.....what other plans have you got? Keep it up mate

So Jono will it be back on the road this season as you had some doubts that it would... I'd like it to be, Mark - but it will depend on finances and prizing a friendly welder away from building his new man cave!

To answer your questions, Mick - Not sourced a rack yet, working on it. I hope it isn't going to turn into a full on rebuild, just the front end for this year. Got to replace the motor and 'box - that's another story for later in the thread! - but I am planning on detailing the engine bay a bit.
