WELL MICK, I'VE ONLY DONE ABOUT A MILE AND A FEW CORNERS BUT IT SEEM OK, IN FACT BETTER THAN WHAT I THOUGHT, I EXPECTED BECAUSE IT'S ON BAGS IT WOULD BE A BIT SOFT LIKE EARLY RANGE ROVERS, BUT IT FEELS FIRM AND SURE FOOTED, SO THINGS LOOK GOOD.

GOT A NEW RAD CAP AND THE OVERHEATING NOW CURED. DID A WATER TEST LAST WEEK AND OF COURSE IT LEAKED, SO I HAD THE REAR 1/4 WINDOWS OUT PUT SOME SEALER IN RTHE RUBBERS AND REFITTED THEM THEN HAD THE FRONTB SCREEN OUT AND DONE THE SAME. PUT A NEW SEAL AROUND THE BOOT HANDLE AND TIGHTENED THE CATCH. SO I'TS ALL READY FOR ANOTHER TEST THIS WEEK. I'M NOW ON WITH THE OIL LEAK FROM THE CRANKCASE BREATHER. THIS IS WHAT I JUNKED AND REPLACED IT WITH THIS SET UP BUT IT JUST CHUCKED OIL OUT AT HIGH REVS SO I BOUGHT A OLD SET UP AGAIN AND CLEANED IT UP FITTED A NEW PCV VALVE WHICH IS WHATS IN THE FIRST PIC. THEN CHANGED MY MIND. I'M NOW GONNA REPLACE THE ALI BLANKING PLATE THAT COVERS THE FUEL PUMP HOLE AND REPLACE IT WITH ONE THAT I MADE THAT HAS A SPOUT ON IT. SO NOW I WILL COME OFF THE ALI PIECE FROM THE ORIGINAL BREATHER HOLE, RUN A TUBE BEHIND THE BACK OF THE ENGINE TO A 'T' PIECE , FIT THE K&N AND A TUBE GOING BACK DOWN TO THE BLANKING PLATE I MADE. THIS IS THE SET UP BEFORE I FIT IT

Jimmy that should work well, returning the runny stuff back to the sump but still breathing to the atmosphere.... . Where your window rubbers new ones? CHeers Marcus

HI MARCUS, YES THEY WERE, GOT THEM FROM SMALL FORD SPARES. WHEN YOU PUT YOUR FRONT SCREEN IN, MAKE SURE YOU USE PLENTY OF SEALANT BETWEEN THE RUBBER AND BODY AS WELL AS THE RUBBER AND GLASS CUZ 100E'S ARE PRONE TO LEAK ON THE FRONT SCREEN

WELL I HAVE GOT THE CAR BACK FROM HAVING IT SET UP ON THE ROLLING ROAD, IT NOW RUNS A LOT SMOOTHER WITH NO FLAT SPOTS AND PULLS WELL IN ALL GEARS, IT'S NOT HAD MUCH DONE TO THE ENGINE AS I WANTED IT USABLE FOR EVERYDAY USE, AND BE FAIRLY ECCONOMICAL, WITH A LITTLE BIT MORE GRUNT TO PULL THE TEARDROP CARAVAN, SO WITH JUST A CAM LIGHTENED / BALLANCED FLYWHEEL AND BAFFLED SUMP IT'S PUTTING OUT 82 BHP. NOW IT'S BACK ONTO THE OIL BREATHER PROBLEM, I'VE GOT ANOTHER K&N FILTER TO FIT ON THE ROCKER COVER BUT FIRST DRILL A TAPPING HOLE IN THE CAST BLANK, ON TOP OF THE COVER. THEN TAP IT OUT NOW THE FITTING SCREWED IN AND FINALLY WITH THE FILTER FITTED NOW I HAVE DRIVEN IT DOWN THE ROAD, A FEW MINOR PROBLEMS HAVE POPPED UP, A FEW SQUEEKS FROM DRY RUBBERS ETC. AND WHEN I TURN ON FULL LOCK THE INSIDE OF THE TYRE CATCHES THE CHASSIS SO OUT WITH THE SANDER TO SCOLLOP OUT THE LIP ON THE EDGE OF THE CHASSIS RAIL JUST GOT TO SEAL THE CUT EDGE AND REPAINT.

Jimmy thats quite a respectable output from an old school motor....Am gonna look at the chassis lip on mine now so that I don't have the same problem.....Did you get your windows sealed up ok?

YEP, PLENTY OF MASTIC AND SEEMS TO BE FINE NOW, BUT A SECOND WATER TEST SHOWED A SLIGHT WEEP AROUND THE PASSENGER DOOR SEAL, ONLY ABOUT 2 THIMBLE FULL BUT I'LL HAVE ANOTHER GO AT IT LATER. I'LL GET THE ROCKER COVER BACK ON AT THE WEEKEND AND DO A FEW MORE JOBS, WAITING FOR THE SNOW TO CLEAR UP SO I CAN TAKE IT TO GET A QUOTE FOR THE CARPETS

WON'T KNOW UNTILL I GET IT DOWN THE ROAD THE AIR SYSTEM WIRING IS SEPERATE TO THE REST OF THE CAR AND IS PERMANTLY LIVE, SO FITTED A WARNING LIGHT TO THE AIR MAIN SWITCH AS I KEEP FORGETTING TO SWITCH IT OFF WHEN IT'S STANDING FOR A LONG TIME. NEXT TO COVER THE FUEL TANK SENDER CUT OUT A PIECE OF 3mm PLY, PRIMED AND SPRAYED IT WITH TEXTURED PAINT, THEN SPRAYED IT BLACK. AND NOW FITTED
