Hi Adam I've got a couple of ideas to give it extra strength... I'm going to try and use the tube idea that we spoke about, am hoping there is going to be enough room to bring the tube well under the wheel arch and mount the strut top mounting bracket inboard of the tube.I'm going to allow the cross member to protrude a little from the chassis rails and then use another piece of tube to go between the top mount and the cross member to triangulate it together.... If that makes sense!!!!! I'll try and draw something down and post a picture for ya... Cheers Marcus

I think i know what you mean. Are you doing away with the present fire wall to chassis bar ?? As its only bolted on and wouldnt give enough strength to have anything pushing up at it. I was thinking of a fresh one futher down and what comes out past the chassis so it can be fixed and i can get my engine in and out without moving the bars.

No going back now then, Marcus have you looked at the down tubes yet are they bolted through the baulkhead and linked the the roll cage or is there more work there? Looking at the car the otherday the down tubes were removalable now the struts are going on I guess they will be fixed?
Good stuff Adam are you enjoying it!!!!

Yes Flash, Bombers pop is here as well at the moment. The staff do like it, as it gives them a rest from the norm.... Although at first they where a little apprehensive of working on Rods etc due to them being somebodies pride and joy. But now they've got over that its great fun....Although they don't always see my end vision... Cheers Marcus

Yes Flash free garaging whilst I'm away in France , no seriously she's there for the MOT and a couple of jobs that are part of the test. The servo has always been a bit on a concern , so Marcus using the brake tester is going to see if he can improve the effectivness we think theres a problem with the vacum pipe. Also new chrome headlamps the ones fitted after the 'incident' have no adjustment and its a bugger driving in the dark when you cant see where you are going, so change and set up properly is the answer. Sorry I have put this on your thread Adam, will do a more detailed update on the projects page

First update tonight is actually from Thursday but I forgot to bring the camera home... ???After an hour or so of grinding at the chassis rails they where ready to accept the new steel work... So it was time to start making the new cross member, am using 120x50mm box with a 3mm wall... First job was to cut out two slots in the box so that it fits neatly between the chassis rails and will enable a good weld contact area for extra strength After cutting into the box 80mm deep and just under 50mm wide, I used a slitter disc to cut diagonally across the top of the cut section so that I could easily remove the metal thats not needed... So here is the cross member nearly in place.... Cheers Marcus
