Failed......went to collect the little Anglia wouldn't start arrghh!!
Battery pack fitted and she started although the timing did not seem right as the engine was hard to turn over and she would only run with choke....left it to warm up and took the decision to set off through Derby up the A38 to Mansfield and on to Worksop.......
Put 25 quids worth of fuel in went 1/2 mile splutter pop bang and stopped on the A52 4 lane roundabout......perfect!!!.........not happy not a happy bunny no tools.nothing. Fired her up again and the same happened so turned around and back to the classic car garage near the importers unit for some advise...........apparently fuel in SA is shit the the timing has to be so far advanced to run when they come here its a no go!!
Took the top off the Webber and the fuel was bad. So going to have a basic service tune up and fuel line clean.....and try next week.
Excitement dashed!!

The the importers simply got the car to the UK and to their unit at Castle Donington and sorted the paperwork, it passed its Mot, the garage next door is the classic car restorer where some work was done for the MOT. I drove it early Jan and its do about 15-20 miles since been here until the DVLA got there stuff done with the reg and it was fine, the only thing is that it did have some fuel in from SA and when we put some UK fuel that's when it packed up...simple tune will probably sort it.........if I had brought back on a trailer it would be sorted this weekend but never mind sods law.

Cheers Colin......not a lot happening on here but we keep trying to get the spark back but nice to see you here. The Anglia will not be to radical want to keep it as a period modified classic, not going to chop it up its to good and solid to start hacking it apart. Going to run her this year and start work next winter.
How is the old girl still going strong???
