Speaking of which, how was that problem caused and how did you cure it? We have just fitted our shifter and I know on production cars they have a safety switch so it can't start in gear, we don't but obviously I havn't tried it. How did you make yours safe?

Well out of woe comes good I guess see if Mark had not mentioned it (chuffer hehe) we would not have thought about it and advise on what changes are needed. The Lokar shifter I had did have a lock out but it was mechanical and a bit hit and miss (I think you can get electornic kits but guess it depends on your shifter)so an additional hydrolic brake pressure switch was added on a tee in the brake line and starter the feed was wired through it so you had to depress the brake and hold the brake down to allow power via the ignition switch to the starter........ Marcus gave PK and I a wiring diagram it was pretty easy and a cheap fix.
Marcus can you confirm its a while since we did it

Kenny, Bomber is sort of on the right lines. We didn't add an extra switch. We wired a relay into the starter solenoid wire. This diagram will give you a bit of an idea... Connect 85 to body earth. Connect 86 to the output side of the brake light switch. I wouldn't bother with a fuse, seeing as the circuit should already be fused. Connect 30 to the starter output wire from the ignition switch or starter button, again I wouldn't bother with a fuse, the circuit should already be protected. Connect 87 to the energizer wire on the starter solenoid (thin cable not battery feed cable). Hey presto the car will not start unless you have a foot on the brake pedal and thus no running into things I hope this helps ya Kenny. Cheers Marcus PS. If the brake light switch is hydrolic then the brakes will need to be bled for the car to start...
