Well Ken and I had a bit of a road trip last Friday, and boy did we see some nice stuff and meet some cracking and very talented guys. I arrived at Kens about 9.30am and gave him a quick lesson on uploading pictures to the forum (so why am I doing this?) The first visit was to see the Galaxie at the body shop, I’ll tell you the pictures posted don’t do it justice what a beautiful job, pin straight no ripples awesome we all know how unforgiving black is and god its big and it didn’t have the front clip on. Terry the painter is a real unassuming bloke but knows how to do bodywork I guess 40 years experience goes a long way. Here’s a couple of pictures showing the new roof rack. Then onto Torch Engineering just next door to Terry, now what a gold mine this is, a fantastic workshop, for those who know Richard Mann this place had the same feeling you know they know their stuff, they certainly know where to get great fish and chips from atleast!! So spent lunch chatting about cars bikes and scooters, Phil and Dave are so interesting to talk too, as they showed us around the place, talking you through the restro of a Lotus and TVR chassis which were beautifully done, and these guys are the ones who have built Kens chassis. There were numerous classic Lambretta’s, a couple of cafe racer bikes from the 50’s and a magnificent Lotus Cortina, it was a real treat!! We then popped across the road to see the chassis and that is awesome, now fully rolling with new spring’s, bushes, ball joints, brake lines etc just awaiting the body to be refitted which should be later this week sometime. We then moved on to see Tony Morgan at Cas-Am, Tony has been responsible for importing the parts for Ken and rebuilding the motor, again knowledge oozing out all over. I managed to buy a C4 transmission £100! We also were introduced to Rob a great mechanic who showed us around the garage were there was a Jag 3.8s, Model A, MGB GT and Lanchester I think all under going mechanic restro, we were both dumb struck! The wheels and tyres powercoated rims and classic rubber With the afternoon moving on Ken rang Bryan Whitfield (go to Born to Run thread now to follow the story gearjammers.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=projects&action=display&thread=39&page=3)
