Knelt down, felt a squelch behind my knee. Leg went funny; Now in York hospital. Complete top to bottom rupture of my left quadriceps muscle. And detached tendon. Operating tomorrow, then a solid leg cast for 2 months followed by a leg brace for six months. Some risk involved, but the alternative is, as the doctor put it, to remain crippled for life..... The Joys!! Can't believe I walked round Whitby like this all weekend! Cheers, Simon

Update; nobody to scan me this morning, scanning tomorrow morning (wednesday) and operating afterwards. Hopefully out on Thursday or Friday. Fingers crossed.
The op is basically they anchor a series of cords to the ruptured tendon, then sew it into the muscle and put some rivets or hooks into the kneecap and sew it into position.

I knelt down bomber. Simple as that. It's hard to believe you can mash yourself up so comprehensively by kneeling down!
