Mark unless it's an old inertia type then it must have a small wire to energise the solonoid I agree And i just didnt understand what the wiring diagram was trying to show me. Im going to need to take the starter off next time im down there and have a look for another terminal

Check engine and gearbox earthing straps, just a thought

just t*** it with a hammer they always get stuck i used to keep a block of wood and a lump hammer in the fox, one of its many uses was for t***ting the starter into life twice a week
